GODDARD, Kan. (KSNW) - A young girl's wish to go to Disney World is coming true. The big reveal happened at the Goddard fire station on Tuesday. In her few years on earth, Amelia has had 25 surgeries. Fifteen of them were brain surgeries. Make a Wish began working with Amelia about six to eight months ago. With its help, she gets to be a kid and explore the Magic Kingdom. "As wish granters, we went and visited her family and got to know her and helped her decide what was her number one wish that she wanted, and Make a Wish did their due diligence and their process, and it's finally going to happen," said Make a Wish volunteer Sharon McCoy. "I currently have four kids I'm sponsoring as a wish granter, and this is my first reveal, so it's exciting, extra exciting." McCoy also said that Amelia loves the fire house and that the firefighters were "great sports." On average, Make a Wish grants more than 35 wishes in the U.S. and its territories per day.
