GODDARD, Kan. (KSNW) – Ty Clark is an eighth grader at Eisenhower Middle School, and he loves sports.
"Football is my favorite sport," Ty said.
Ty's mom, Rose Houser, says all her other kids played sports, so Ty grew up around it.
"Him being able to be on the field and be involved is a huge deal for our whole family and for us," Houser said. "And especially just to see him be involved and be happy and be on the field."

Houser says Ty's school and community have been a blessing to him, making sure Ty is involved in everything his classmates are involved in.
"He's part of everything. He's a very social person, so it's important to us that he gets to be a part of as much as he can," Houser said. "They go above and beyond here at the school, we feel like, to make sure he gets all of that, and his teachers are amazing. Miss Randi goes to all the football games, and she doesn't have to, and she does it, so it's a big deal. There's not a lot of people that would do that. So we're truly, truly blessed to be at Eisenhower."
Ty's teammates and coaches would argue that it's the other way around, and Ty is the blessing in their life.
"He really brings the team up, like after a loss or anything, bringing the team up, always there for us, brings the energy up a lot," eighth grader Kellen Christian said. "Practice, games, any time, just always there."

"He's a great teammate," Maddox Walker said. "He brings a lot of energy. He helps with everything. He brings us up when we're down and out, and he's always smiling."
His team made sure Ty got an exciting moment just like them, and Ty scored a touchdown.
"All the stuff he's done for us, too, and we want to give him the experience that we get," Christian said. "Your only in middle school two years, and when you play football, you wanna do something big, and a touchdown, it's the at the top of the list. Everyone wants to score a touchdown, and for him to score a touchdown because he loves football means a lot."
"He's a part of our team, and everybody deserves to be a part of something," Walker said. "He means a lot to us and our team."

The middle school football coaches say this is what football is all about - sportsmanship, brotherhood and the meaning of a team.
"I just think that it's great for our kids," coach Tom Campa said. "Our kids come together. Our kids understand. They respect Ty. They respect that he is a part of our school. He's a part of our program. And I thoroughly enjoyed the way that our kids handled themselves and how, where they presented themselves in a positive manner, because it reflects not only them, it reflects our school, reflects our community."

"Just like any other kid, you like to see your team come together," Coach Jow Blasi said. "You like to see them be happy for one another. Just like the linemen are praised when you get a touchdown, not just the people that score the touchdown. Ty's able to do that. The boys are happy for him, being happy for others. So as a coach, that's your ultimate goal is the team to come together ultimately, like it's something that's bigger than football itself, and that's what you strive for."
Ty's teammates say they are looking forward to scoring more touchdowns with Ty in high school.
Outside of football, Ty's classmates are also on his team.

"Everyone is a person, and you shouldn't just neglect someone just because they have a disability," eighth grader Teagan Amrine said. "You should still hang out with them and get to know them and not judge a book by its cover."
