HARTFORD, Conn. (WWLP) - The family of Jessiah Mercado and her four-month-old son, Messiah Diaz, has launched a GoFundMe to help support their loved ones as they suffer an unimaginable loss. Springfield baby shot in Hartford was in foster care Jessiah, 20, and Messiah were killed in a drive-by shooting on November 19 in Hartford. The incident occurred in the area of 380 New Britain Avenue, and the victims were later brought to Hartford Hospital, where both were pronounced deceased. Vigil for Springfield mother, infant son shot in Hartford Police allege the shooter, Lance “Macho” Morales, 23, pulled alongside their car and opened fire. Morales was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force in Puerto Rico and faces several charges, including two counts of murder. He is awaiting extradition on a $3 million bond. Following the tragedy, Jessiah's family is seeking support for funeral expenses and the care of her surviving child, her older son. The campaign honors Jessiah’s memory and aims to provide some relief to the family during this difficult time. Donations can be made directly through the GoFundMe page.
