Crews respond to smoke incident from cell outlet at ACI

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Cranston fire responded to a smoke incident at the Rhode Island Department of Corrections Tuesday night.
According to ACI Public Information Officer J.R. Ventura, a cell outlet had a “minor malfunction,” which began to smoke.
The fire alarm was then triggered, which caused inmates to be moved out of the housing mod.
Cranston fire crews responded to the alarm and cleared the building.
Ventura said no injuries occurred from the incident, and the inmates will be taken back to their cells.
