NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — Police arrested a seventh grader during their investigation of threats that were made against Noblesville East Middle School on Tuesday. The district said police made them aware overnight of an anonymous video posted on social media threatening violence toward East Middle School. Officials reviewed the situation, and while they didn't feel there was any reason to believe the threat was credible, they decided to close all Noblesville schools for the day. “At Noblesville Schools, safety is our top priority, and we are committed to taking appropriate action to protect the health and wellbeing of the students, staff, and community that we serve,” wrote Superintendent Dr. Daniel G. Hile in a message to families. Hile’s message indicated that Tuesday would not be an e-learning day. The district spent the day working with law enforcement to investigate the threat and ensure the safety of schools. “I greatly appreciate your understanding and support as we continue working hard to keep our schools, staff, and children safe,” Hile wrote. In its afternoon update, the district also indicated that federal, state and local law enforcement agencies are still investigating the threats. In a Tuesday night update, Noblesville police confirmed officers obtained a search warrant for a residence located in the 800 block of Noble Run as part of their investigation into the alleged threat. NPD said investigators found the suspect, who police identified as a 7th-grade student at the school, and collected additional evidence related to the criminal investigation. The suspect was detained and transported to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center on a preliminary charge of intimidation, which is a level 6 felony. "The NPD would like to thank the FBI for their expertise and communication throughout this investigation," NPD said in a news release. "Their assistance was instrumental in locating the alleged suspect.  We would also like to thank the Noblesville Schools for their assistance." Noblesville Schools shared the following statement with FOX59/CBS4 Tuesday night after an arrest was made. "We have zero tolerance for any activity that threatens the safety of our schools. We want to thank the FBI and the Noblesville Police Department for their swift action in addressing this incident. We appreciate our strong partnership with law enforcement and the peace of mind this news brings for our community." The district's Thanksgiving break starts Wednesday. In an update sent Tuesday afternoon, district administrators confirmed the school will be back in session as normal on Monday. The district also reported that its afternoon and evening activities scheduled for Tuesday will move forward as planned because the threat is not believed to be credible and district administrators do not consider any additional disruptions necessary. The district is still encouraging its students, faculty and other stakeholders to remain vigilant of their surroundings. Administrators indicated that suspicious activity should be reported to school principals and resource officers or via the SpeakUp app. This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
