MINOT, ND (KXNET) — Two Minot police officers involved in a shooting earlier this fall have been cleared of any wrongdoing, following a press conference at Minot City Hall on Tuesday afternoon.
The shooting happened in southwest Minot in the early morning hours of October 25 when Minot police were responding to a domestic disturbance call involving a man and a woman.
The officers, Cullen Hall and Tyler Burtch, arrived on scene and upon entering a home, discharged their firearms at a man who was later identified as Michael Bryant.
Police say Bryant was holding two people down with one arm and tried to reach for a firearm as the two officers entered the home. And that Bryant, who was pronounced dead on scene, had been dealing with suicidal ideations and was also a known drug user.

The investigation had been handled by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and both officers were placed on administrative leave.
Minot City Manager, Harold Stewart, says the city will continue to support its police department during any officer-involved investigation.
"We had the officer-involved shooting, we have this investigation going on, there's a lot of things going on right now and I think it's important that the City of Minot, as an organization and as a community, communicate very clearly that we are supportive of our police department," said Stewart.
According to the Minot Police Department, this is the first fatal shooting involving an officer in more than a decade. Both officers have now been moved off of administrative leave and were provided mental health and counseling services following the incident.
