BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- An Amazon employee was arrested in connection with a fire Sunday at the company's distribution center on Petrol Road in Bakersfield. Monty Latrell Goree, 26, of Bakersfield was arrested around 4 p.m. Sunday on suspicion of attempted arson and arson, according to a release from the Kern County Fire Department. The fire occurred Sunday morning in the facility's fourth floor, fire officials said. Bakersfield doctor accused of gross negligence in patient’s death during surgery A fire department spokesperson said the fire was contained to a 9-foot tall pod. The Amazon facility was evacuated and employees were sent home. No injuries were reported. An Amazon spokesperson confirmed to 17 News, Goree is an employee and has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. The distribution center reopened and back at regular operation and no delays for customers are expected, the Amazon spokesperson said.
