An initial investigation found a man driving a 2017 Subaru Legacy hit a 2022 Ram pick-up truck. The impact forced the Ram into the right lane and the Subaru into the median. The Subaru driver and their 18-year-old passenger were taken to Clinton Memorial Hospital after the crash. The passenger, identified as Makell Rhinehart, was pronounced dead. All northbound lanes of I-71 were also shut down nearby, before the State Route 68 exit, due to a crash that caused 53,000 pounds of granite to fall on the interstate. Those lanes have also reopened.
