(KRON) -- A prowler who police say broke into an occupied Palo Alto home Sunday night was arrested, according to police. The Palo Alto Police Department said its 24-hour dispatch center got a call at around 11:50 p.m. Police initially said they received the call from someone who lived on the 1700 block of Hamilton Avenue. Palo Alto PD later clarified the correct location as the 1700 block of Emerson Street.
The caller, police said, reported he had just interrupted someone entering his house. Officers responded to the scene but were unable to immediately locate anyone.

According to police, the caller, a man in his fifties, was upstairs in a bedroom when he heard noises downstairs. He went downstairs to investigate and found a man he did not know standing in his kitchen.
When confronted, the suspect told the resident he'd entered the house by mistake and fled on foot. Officers reviewed security camera footage and determined that the suspect had entered the home by prying a lock on a patio door adjacent to the kitchen.
The victim did not report anything missing or damaged, police said. Police checking the area located the suspect a short time later and detained him. He was identified as 28-year-old Thomas Albert Yencken of Palo Alto.
Yencken was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for prowling, trespassing and vandalism. Police are also recommending that the district attorney consider a burglary charge.
