(KRON) – Renowned Napa Chef Thomas Keller announced the closure of one of his Yountville restaurants on social media on Monday.  Chef Keller, also owner of The French Laundry, took to his Instagram to share that La Calenda will be closing the eatery.  La Calenda said the restaurant is a community-driven restaurant where traditional Mexican cuisine and fixtures “meet for a fun, family-friendly environment.” La Calenda’s restaurant announced on its Instagram, “it is with a heavy heart that our restaurant group has decided to close La Calenda at the end of this month. This decision has not been made lightly, and we are acutely aware of the challenges it presents.” Santa Rosa German restaurant announces closure after 8 years The famous chef said the closure was due to not seeing a “viable path forward” with Napa Valley’s loss of "local traffic and the economic downturn" that occurred this year.  The last day of operation will be Dec. 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Chef Keller said the staff is looking “forward to toasting” with patrons.  Keller thanked all of the restaurants’ staff and chefs who have worked at the eatery in the departure post.  In addition to The French Laundry, Chef Keller has many ventures in Yountville: Bouchon Bistro, Bouchon Bakery, Ad Hoc + Addendum and RO Restaurant & Lounge.
