SANTA FE COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – The special prosecutor in the Alec Baldwin involuntary manslaughter case now wants the Court of Appeals to get involved.
Attorney Kari Morrissey filed an appeal in response to the lower court's ruling to drop the involuntary manslaughter against the Hollywood star for his role in the deadly shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on a New Mexico film set in 2021.

Baldwin was on trial earlier this year, but District Court Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer dismissed the case over evidence that was not properly logged. Sommer also denied a motion from Morrissey to reconsider that decision.
The movie "Rust" that Baldwin starred in and co-produced recently had its world premiere at a film festival in Poland.
Hannah Gutierrez, the armorer on set during the deadly shooting, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Hutchins and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
