ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man was sentenced to 18 months of probation for shooting and killing a home intruder in October. Elias Garcia, 67, said he was watching TV in his home near Broadway and Sunport Boulevard when a woman cut a screen door and entered the house, according to court documents. Garcia told police he held the stranger at gunpoint, saying he would shoot her if she moved. Garcia pleaded guilty to an involuntary manslaughter charge. During his sentencing on Tuesday, he apologized to the victim's family.
