Nov 26, 2024
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- An inmate of Greensville Correctional Center who escaped from a hospital in Henrico County and was recaptured months later in Fairfax County has pleaded guilty.
According to online court records, Naseem Roulack pleaded guilty in Henrico Circuit Court on Thursday, Nov. 26.
He was sentenced to five years with two years of that sentence suspended. He also received five years of probation to begin upon his release.
Roulack had previously been scheduled to appear in court for a two-day jury trial on Monday, Dec. 2.
On the morning of Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, Roulack escaped from Bon Secours Saint Mary's Hospital. He had been serving a 13-year sentence for aggravated malicious wounding, grand larceny and hit-and-run.
The two security officers with the Virginia Department of Corrections who had been watching Roulack later admitted to being asleep during the time of his escape. They resigned from their positions less than two weeks after his getaway.
In the weeks and months that followed authorities searched for Roulack. However, it wasn't until the morning of Oct. 25, 2023, that Roulack was arrested at a hotel in Fairfax County by U.S. Marshals and Fairfax police.
Authorities said Roulack attempted to escape capture on Oct. 25 by jumping from a third-floor window with an assault rifle in hand. However, he injured his arm in the fall, dropped the gun and ran away before he was captured.
