Man charged with allowing access to firearm by children after Richmond shooting on I64

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 28-year-old Henrico County man has been charged with allowing access to a firearm, among others, after an investigation into the shooting of a 40-year-old on Interstate 64. Police said the charges are unrelated to the shooting.
According to Virginia State Police, 28-year-old Jerrell Hill of Henrico County was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of allowing access to a firearm by children.
Hill is being held at the Henrico County Jail, according to law enforcement.
Police said the charges are unrelated to the shooting, which took place at 11:38 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, on I-64 West in Richmond near the Staples Mill exit.
Officials said state troopers responded to the scene of the incident after the report of a shooting that took place in which a person in one vehicle shot at another vehicle.
Police identified the victim as 40-year-old Calvin W. Carter Jr. of Henrico County. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition from gunshot wounds.
