Mayor Smiley announces free 30minute parking campaign at City Hall, twohours in business districts
Nov 26, 2024
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Mayor Brett Smiley announced the City of Providence will provide free 30-minute parking outside of City Hall and two-hour parking in Providence business corridors to allow residents easier access to city services and businesses.
Starting Nov. 26, the City Hall’s 30-minute parking program on Washington Street will be available year-round from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
“Free parking at City Hall ensures that all of our neighbors, regardless of income or mobility, have the access they deserve to the critical resources and information available at City Hall,” Councilman Oscar Vargas said.
The free two-hour parking for shopping begins on Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30, and will last through Jan. 1, 2025.
The city said the program will make it easier for shoppers to visit and support local businesses in Providence during the holiday season.
“And remember — this holiday season and throughout the year, we can make a tremendous impact by shopping in the small, locally owned businesses that make Providence such an incredible place to live, work and visit. Whether you live in Providence, or are just in town for an afternoon, please enjoy complimentary two-hour holiday parking while you support our tremendous small business community,” Smiley said.
