WESTPORT, Mass. (WPRI) — A popular Westport ice cream shop is up for sale, 12 News has learned. Lickety Splits Ice Cream was listed online for $475,000 last week. The shop is best known for its array of soft serve and hard ice cream flavors, as well as Coney Island-style hot dogs, hamburgers, chili and clam cakes. Mark Pietrzyk, who's owned the State Road shop for 35 years, told 12 News both the business itself and the property are up for sale. SEE ALSO: Popular Massachusetts farm set to close "There is a lot of interest in the place, but not all of them want to keep it as Lickety Splits," Pietrzyk said. "Those who don't want to keep it as an ice cream business want it to be some type of food service business." Pietrzyk said he would consider selling just the business and renting out the property and building. "I'm in my 60s and still find myself working over 80 hours a week during the season because of the lack of reliable help," he explained, adding that his kids are grown and can't help because they don't live nearby anymore. "I don't have too many options." Lickety Splits is advertised as a "commercial gem" in a high-traffic location with "endless money-making possibilities." The property and restaurant equipment are both being sold in "as-in condition," according to the online listing.
