INDIANAPOLIS — A wanted fugitive who cut off his GPS monitor and fled the United States has been tracked down and arrested roughly six years after being accused of molesting two girls in Hamilton and Marion counties.
The Fishers Police Department confirmed that Alejandro Batana was arrested in Mexico on Aug. 5, 2024, thanks to the efforts of Fishers police detectives, U.S. Marshals, Interpol, federal partners and Mexican federal authorities.
Batana was successfully extradited back to the United States where he was booked into the Hamilton County Jail on Nov. 15.

Previous reports detail how Batana was the suspect in a manhunt after he was accused of molesting two young girls in Hamilton and Marion counties in 2018.
In October 2018, Batana was arrested on two counts of child molestation out of Hamilton County and four counts of child molestation out of Marion County — but he was released from the Marion County Jail a few days after his arrest after posting a $40,000 bond. Batana then cut off his GPS monitor and disappeared, vanishing across the border.
Prosecutors said Batana preyed on the young girls over several years, the accused crimes taking place at a mobile home park in Indianapolis and at an apartment in Fishers. One of the girls was just 5 years old when Batana allegedly began to molest her, according to court documents.
After he was released on bond, the mother of the victims expressed her dismay at Marion County for granting him release.
“I feel Marion County should have kept him. I feel they should have never let him out. In my heart I knew he was going to run,” said the mother.
Batana avoided justice for nearly six years until he was eventually tracked down in Mexico. This time, Batana is being housed in Hamilton County Jail. His bond is set at half a million dollars.
“My two kids deserve justice. My whole family does,” said the mother. “He should pay for what he’s done."
If convicted of a Level 1 felony for child molestation, Batana could face up to 50 years in prison.
