AVON, Ind. — A former choir and theater teacher in the Avon school system faces felony charges after allegedly filming himself masturbating in his classroom and sending the videos to teen girls.

Kayvon H. Emtiaz, 28, was arrested last week and charged with 14 counts of child solicitation, child porn possession and vicarious sexual gratification.
Emtiaz is a former teacher and choir director who worked at several Avon elementary and middle schools.
Snapchat investigation
Police began investigating Emtiaz in early September after receiving a cyber tip that a local Snapchat user was downloading child porn.
Snapchat said the reported user was a "person of trust," such as a teacher, coach or police officer.
Around the same time, investigators heard that a potential teacher in the Avon School District had been masturbating inside the school.
Search warrants were then filed on two Snapchat accounts named "kavman105" and "fiftyshadedaddy." Files saved to those accounts revealed videos of a male masturbating behind a desk "in what appears to be a musical classroom."
Investigators found that these videos were being sent to other accounts on Snapchat and reviewed the messages to find that the user had also been soliciting several 13-year-old girls. Videos depicting underage girls in a sexual manner were found saved to the account.

Court documents show that the male Snapchat user even told the young girls that he was a "28yo naughty teacher who fantasizes about his students all of the time." The user told the girls that he was from Indiana and that he fantasized about keeping his students after class, locking the door and sexually abusing them.
Internet data records showed that both Snapchat accounts were being controlled on a local AT&T server. The server was connected to several other social media accounts, all named "kemtiaz."
Further investigation showed that Emtiaz's BMV photo matched the face of the male seen masturbating in the videos on Snapchat. In one YouTube post on Emtiaz's channel, he reportedly showed himself with an Avon school corporation badge outside Avon Middle School South.
Admission and arrest
Emtiaz - an Indianapolis resident - was brought in by police for questioning last Thursday, Nov. 21. During the interview, Emtiaz reportedly admitted to using both Snapchat accounts.
Furthermore, Emtiaz allegedly said that he has had conversations with underage girls on Snapchat but that he could not specifically remember them all. Court documents show that he told police he saves the videos of underage girls so that he could masturbate to them when he begins fantasizing about his students.
After the interview, police searched through Emtiaz's phone. In the "hidden" section of his photos app, detectives reportedly found the exact child porn files sent to him by one of the 13-year-old girls.
Following the admission, Emtiaz was arrested and booked into the Marion County Jail on the following charges:
Vicarious Sexual Gratification (Level 4 Felony)
One count
Child Solicitation (Level 5 Felony)
Two counts
Possession of Child Pornography (Level 6 Felony)
10 counts
Online jail records show that Emtiaz bailed out of jail on Monday, Nov. 25, on a $40,000 bond. An initial hearing was also held on Monday and a jury trial is now scheduled to begin on Feb. 10, 2025.
Avon schools response
Avon Community School Corporation confirmed last Friday that Emtiaz was a former employee.
“We were notified by Avon Police that an individual who was employed as a teacher from November 2019 to December 2022 and who then continued as an extra-curricular activity coach in our choir and theatre program was arrested on felony charges,” Communications Coordinator Kevin Carr said.
Emtiaz was reportedly employed in several different Avon schools between 2019 and 2022.
“We are unaware of any allegations connecting these charges and Avon students,” Carr said in an email.
The suspect’s employment history is as follows:
White Oak Elementary – Nov. 2019-May 2021
Avon Intermediate School West – Jul. 2021-Mar. 2022
Avon Middle School North – Mar.-Dec. 2022
Online teaching records show that Emtiaz’s fine arts teaching license expired in Aug. 2024. No public educator offenses have been filed against him in Indiana.
Avon Schools said that Emtiaz’s employment as an extra-curricular instructor was “immediately terminated” when they were made aware of the allegations. His access to all Avon school facilities has been revoked.
“We cannot comment on any pending status given the open law enforcement investigation,” Carr said.
The Avon Police Department said on Monday that they do not have a statement at this time.
