INDIANAPOLIS -- Court records claim a dispute over a stolen car led to a deadly shooting on Indy’s east side.
Murder charges against the accused killer were unsealed this week.
On a Saturday afternoon in late October, police were called to a business along East 38th Street near Arlington Road after a man was shot trying to recover his friend's stolen car.
The victim, 44-year-old Christopher Clark who was known by friends and family as Squbee, died in the hospital.
"Man, I'm sorry for the family's loss. He was a great guy and a stand-up man. He was a good friend," said the victim's friend Carla Oluremi. "He's going to be missed by the whole neighborhood."

Oluremi said Clark was at a home with friends directly behind the supermarket parking lot where the shooting took place when he spotted his friend's red Pontiac, which had been reported stolen four days earlier.
Clark went to confront the accused car thief, 33-year-old Justin Callaway, when police say Callaway opened fire.
"We couldn't believe the car pulled up here," said Oluremi. "We didn't know the man had the gun."

IMPD said the tragic death is a reminder that people should never confront suspected criminals, but instead simply call 911.
"It's always best to call us and let us come out and investigate whenever we have a case of that sort," IMPD Sgt. William Young said. "Obviously you never know who you're going to approach or if they're armed. It's definitely just a good idea to let us come out and investigate."
Court records claim Callaway, who had a warrant for his arrest before the homicide, was wounded in the altercation and drove to a nearby gas station where he was found minutes later.
After being arrested the suspect declined to talk to police.
The victim's friends and family just hope the accused killer is held accountable for his actions.
"Man, he could have given back the car," Oluremi said. "All these people carrying guns, they need to just stop it. I just wish people would stop the violence and put the guns down."
Callaway is now being held without bond at the Marion County jail pending trial.
