INDIANAPOLIS -- Two individuals have been charged in relation to the armed robbery of a Brinks armored vehicle earlier this month at a bank on the southeast side of Indianapolis. According to court documents, 17-year-old Lonnie McGill III was charged with one count of armed robbery, a Level 3 felony, as well as three misdemeanors, including two weapons charges and resisting law enforcement. McGill is being charged as an adult, according to officials with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office. Vantez Porter, a 41-year-old, was also charged with one count of armed robbery, a Level 3 felony, one count of resisting law enforcement, a Level 6 felony, as well as an additional misdemeanor resisting law enforcement charge. Suspects arrested after reported robbery on southeast side On Nov. 21, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to a bank near the intersection of Southeastern Avenue and Northeastern Avenue on a call of an armed robbery. Officials said at the time that suspects robbed a Brinks armored vehicle and fled the scene. According to court documents, the driver of the armored vehicle told officers that two people armed with handguns ran up to him shortly after he opened the bank's ATM. The two individuals were wearing masks hiding their faces and demanded for the driver to give them his gun and his key fob to the vehicle. Once the robbers had his fob, the driver reportedly took off running and attempted to flag someone down to call 911. A witness then followed the suspects' vehicle, a Dodge Magnum, eventually seeing them get into a White Ford Taurus with Alabama license plates. Docs: School officer charged after sending sexual texts to teens IMPD officers eventually attempted a traffic stop on the Taurus, which led to a vehicle pursuit. Officers later found the vehicle crashed in the front yard of a home on S. Arlington Avenue. The documents said that McGill was found nearby and Porter was also found hiding in a nearby garage. In an interview with police, Porter reportedly admitted to being a lookout on the robbery and was driving the Taurus. Porter said that slick roads caused the vehicle to crash and the individuals inside the car ran from it. When detectives asked Porter why the location was picked for the robbery, Porter reportedly responded "Someone had been watching and knew the armored vehicle would be there at that time." "Porter advised he was going to receive $5,000 for his role in the robbery as the lookout," the documents said. "(Detectives) asked Porter if he had seen either of the suspects with guns. Porter said, 'I didn't see anyone with a gun but believed at least one of the other two were armed since they were going to rob an armed guard in an armored car." Docs: Avon choir teacher filmed sexual videos in his classroom, sent them to girls on Snapchat Masks and black gloves were reportedly found inside the Magnum as well as the Taurus. The documents said a third individual who was reportedly involved in the armed robbery turned himself in on Nov. 23. However, that third individual has not been officially charged in relation to the robbery as of this story's publication. McGill and Porter are both scheduled to have their respective initial hearings on Wednesday morning. The court set McGill's bond at $8,000 in cash while Porter's bond is set at $16,000 cash.
