HONOLULU (KHON2) -- There's a convenient new way to show you're thankful as we kick off the holiday season by giving back to people in Hawaii in need through vending machines at malls and entertainment centers across the state. Sommelier’s guide: Best wines for your Thanksgiving feast "We're happy to partner again with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the world's giving machine campaign," the First Lady said. "So we have vending machines at malls. This year for the first time in Maui in the Whaler's Village, in Hilo at Prince Kuhio Mall, Laie at Polynesian Cultural Center and Ala Moana. So we are hoping to be able to reach so many more of our residents and to really give back in a way that, we haven't seen before. And the vending machines are fun. They work, so you choose which items you want, and there are a variety of charities. This year we have 18 local charities, to give to things like, you can choose diapers for children." "You swipe your card, and you can pick a $5 gift or a $50 or a $100 gift and it goes to all these charities. So it's super easy. And then the thing falls down like a vending machine, and you see it drop in, which is the sign that your gift has been completed."
