City collecting cooking oil, grease at 3 locations

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The City of Bakersfield is collecting grease and oil at three different locations around the city.
City officials say with the holidays right around the corner residents may have more oil and grease after gatherings.

Other than pouring the oil down the drain, you can take it to any of the the three locations around the city.
The three locations are as follows:
The City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant 3, which is located at 6901 McCutchen Road.
The North of the River Sanitary District main office, which is located at 204 Universe Avenue.
Kern UCO, which is located at 4031 Alken St Ste A5.
The three locations are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., but they will not be open holidays, according to city officials.
This is a free service and all community members have to do is take their cooking oil and grease to any one of the locations in a sealed container, officials said.
