Two people rescued from trench Tuesday morning along the Cherry CreeK Trail, South Metro Fire Rescue says

Two people were rescued Tuesday morning from at trench along the Cherry Creek Trail by South Metro Fire Rescue (SMFR) and the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office.One person has minor injuries, according to South Metro Fire Rescue. They were taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The trench was on a construction site on the Cherry Creek Trail near Parker Road and Broncos Parkway. It's 10 feet wide by 5 feet deep and 75 feet long, according to South Metro Fire Rescue. However, the agency's public information officer told Denver, he did not konw why the trench was being built. There were no signs around the construction site that explained the project, according to the SMFR public information officer. Denver7 looked into the county records, and found the Vermilion Creek development being built southeast of Tagawa Gardens. Rescue crews worked to shore up the sides of the trench to get three members of the South Metro Fire Rescue's Technical Rescue team into the trench and extract both people who were trapped. The trench did not collapse, South Metro Fire Rescue said.
