(NEXSTAR) — Whether you forgot an item or need a replacement meal for a burnt turkey, the retailers open to serve your needs on Thanksgiving Day may be a bit limited.  Many major retailers, like Target and Walmart, are continuing a tradition they started during the COVID pandemic and will remain closed for the holiday. (You can see a full list of those major retailers here.) However, many nationwide grocery chains and retailers will be open on Thanksgiving. It is worth noting that hours can vary by location, so it’s best to check online or by calling ahead before you try to visit your nearest store. CVS While CVS stores will be open, hours may vary by location and pharmacies may be closed. CVS notes that if a pharmacy is open, it will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can confirm your store’s hours online. Dollar General Most Dollar General stores will be open for Thanksgiving, a representative confirmed with Nexstar. Store hours can be confirmed online or in the DG app. Deadly E. coli outbreak linked to organic carrots sold in multiple states Dillons Dillons will be open until 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving. Pharmacies will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Walgreens While Walgreens will again close most of its stores for Thanksgiving, its 24-hour locations — roughly 500 stores and 300 pharmacies within those — will remain open, the company confirmed in September. Whole Foods Many Whole Foods stores will open with modified hours on Thanksgiving, according to the company. Wichita's store hours will be 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Why is Thanksgiving so late this year? Not every store will be open and ready for you to trot in on Turkey Day this year.  In addition to Target and Walmart, many of the usual retailers that are closing their doors include Aldi, Costco, Sam’s Club, and Trader Joe’s.  Most other major retailers will also be closed for Thanksgiving. Should you find yourself needing a snack while commuting to your Thanksgiving dinner, or a forgotten item for said dinner, most gas stations and convenience stores remain open for Thanksgiving, as do some restaurants.
