On Nov. 23 and Nov. 24 the University of West Florida volleyball team competed in the Gulf South Conference tournament. Chiles alumni Delaney Scott-Hanowell (Fr.) played an important role in both matches as a middle for UWF. Seeded first in the tournament, the Argonauts played in the semi-finals against Lee University, the fifth seed. Scott-Hanowell, alongside teammate Emily Breazeale, led the team with 9 kills. Scott-Hanowell had 2 errors on 17 total attempts, for a .412 hitting percentage. UWF won the match in straight sets with set scores of 25-12, 25-17, and 25-19. In the championship match against Alabama Huntsville, Scott-Hanowell led the team with a season high 14 kills on 29 attempts with 5 errors. The match went 4 sets with UWF claiming the Gulf South Conference championship with set scores of 26-24, 25-13, 17-25 and 25-14. While at Chiles, Scott-Hanowell played three seasons on varsity at the middle position. In her senior year, she played a pivotal part helping Chiles reach the FHSAA 6A State Semi-Finals. In her career at Chiles she had a total of 338 kills, 147 total blocks, and a hitting percentage of .269.
