EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – A suspect has been arrested in a deadly crash investigation. Ernest Masten, of Bloomingdale, was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 80 at Pine View Drive on April 24, the Effingham County Sheriff's Office (ECSO) said. ECSO said their investigation, which included a reconstruction of the collision, revealed that Connor Hillis was at fault in the crash. 1 dead after car submerged in Effingham County Connor Hillis (Effingham County Sheriff's Office) At the time, he was under the influence of multiple substances and traveling twice the speed of the posted limit, officials said. Hillis was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence of drugs and reckless driving. He is being held in the Effingham County Jail pending court action.
