City of Albuquerque offering green waste curbside pickup this December
Nov 26, 2024
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – For a limited time this December, Albuquerque residents can more easily dispose of their green waste. The City of Albuquerque's Solid Waste Management Department is offering free natural yard waste collection alongside its normal trash pick-up from December 2 through December 13.
During the program's timeframe, residents can get rid of items like downed branches, leaves, grass clippings, and weeds through the convenience of curbside collection. To participate, put all green waste in trash bags and place the bags at the curb by 7 a.m. on your regular trash collection day. Please follow these guidelines when disposing of green waste:
City of Albuquerque hosting series of community meetings on homelessness
Each bag should weigh no more than 40 pounds
Place green waste bags at the curb 5 feet apart from trash and recycling containers
Cut large branches into 4-foot lengths and bundle them securely
Dirt, construction debris, gravel, construction materials, and tree stumps will NOT be picked up
According to the city, all of the green waste collected will be mulched and used to prevent soil erosion at the Cerro Colorado Landfill. To find out more about green waste collection in Albuquerque, click here.
