Nov 26, 2024
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Lunchtime forecast: Mostly cloudy with temps near 70. Mostly cloudy skies for the first half of the day after a few isolated showers were seen this morning. Winds begin to shift out of the N after the cold front passes through SE Louisiana today. High temperatures will not budge much from our morning temperatures.
Temperatures are expected to remain below average well beyond the passing of the big Thanksgiving Day cold front for the central and eastern portion of the U.S.
On Wednesday we will see a brief warm up ahead of the next big cold front to arrive on Thanksgiving Day. Highs tomorrow rise to the upper 70s, winds shift back out of the south. Some isolated showers are expected to develop in the afternoon, but these will be light and short lived.
Thursday, THANKSGIVING DAY, is the day of our more impactful cold front of the week. Isolated showers will be seen that morning. Models are trending towards a brief lull in rain chances around lunchtime before redevelopment of showers and potential thunderstorms late afternoon and into the night. Highs in the low 70s, with cooler air funneling in that evening/ night. Lows will fall into the upper 40s, then only rebound to 59 degrees the following day. Black Friday shopping will be CHILLY!
