MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A Memphis Police squad car was intentionally set on fire in front of the downtown station Monday night, according to fire investigators.
Just before 9 p.m., officers say a citizen called 911 stating as they were passing by the police station at 444 Main Street, a squad car on the lot adjacent to the front doors was on fire.
Memphis Fire Department arrived and began putting out the fire. Once fire investigators made the scene, they determined that the incident was arson and that someone intentionally used an accelerant near the back of the vehicle.

MFD investigators say the accelerant was poured near the back of the squad car, causing the fire to start near the gas tank on the driver's side.
A piece of what was left of a gas can near the back of the driver's side was taken as evidence.
Police say there was around $35,000-$45,000 worth of damages to the vehicle. The squad car was parked next to two other vehicles at the time of the fire, but it is unknown if those vehicles were left damaged.
There is no suspect information available at this time.
