On November 24 around 11:35 p.m., troopers say they were patrolling the 600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue when they saw a white Hyundai Tucson driving with the headlights off.
The trooper says the Hyundai was recognized from a previous "Be On The Lookout" after being reported stolen. After confirming the vehicle was from the BOLO, the trooper attempted a traffic stop at that time.
That is when the trooper says the Hyundai turned southbound on Walnut Street and sped away. A vehicle pursuit was then initiated.

According to reports, the Hyundai evaded arrest for nearly 23 minutes before coming to a dead end on North Riverside Drive. Several people then got out of the Hyundai and ran on foot, reports state.
The trooper says one of the suspects was caught and later identified as Johnny Landon. As the trooper was attempting to place Landon in handcuffs, Landon reportedly yanked his arms away in an attempt to run and removed his shirt that was within the trooper's grasp.
When the trooper got close enough to Landon to reach over the fence dividing them, he grabbed Landon's arm. Landon pulled downward, causing the trooper to be thrown over the metal fence between them and hit the ground, the trooper says. This also caused the trooper's shirt to rip.
