WESTFIELD, Ind. — A Westfield man was arrested after he reportedly possessed more than 100 files of child sex abuse with children as young as two years old. Matthew Sawyer, 24, was arrested for the following: 10 counts of Possession of Child Pornography, a Level 5 Felony 1 count of Aiding/Inducing Child Exploitation, a Level 5 Felony Matthew Sawyer According to court documents, the Westfield Police Department was contacted by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office in Jefferson, GA, on March 12, 2023, on a report that they had obtained digital evidence of Sawyer speaking with a child and obtaining child pornography. WPD was alerted because they had a similar case involving Sawyer, and because JCSO had obtained a search warrant. Sawyer was arrested on the warrant in Indianapolis by WPD on March 16, 2023. Officers confiscated two phones, one of which had exactly 39 videos of child sex abuse from a girl that was being trafficked by an adult family member. On May 10, 2023, the Fishers Digital Evidence Lab reported that they had found 72 photos of child pornography involving children as young as two years old being raped. According tp court documents, there were approximately 153 files found on the devices that Sawyer owned. The reported suspect used Snapchat, Kik, and CashApp as means to abuse the victims. Sawyer was transported to the Hamilton County Jail.
