(KTLA) -- A man who was hired to do work on the roof of a California business died while on the job and his body was believed to be on top of the building for several days, including during a popular street fair.
According to the Burbank Police Department, the unidentified worker was found Saturday afternoon on top of the roof of a shop across the street from several bustling businesses.
Police administered first aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers learned the decedent had been hired to do some work on the roof and had passed away while doing the work," a police spokesperson said.
Police confirmed to Nexstar's KTLA that the man was last seen on Thursday and a missing persons report was filed by his family the following day, but his body wasn't discovered until Saturday, two days after he had last been seen.
The heartbreaking discovery came the day after Burbank's Holiday in the Park, an annual street fair that draws thousands to the Magnolia Park neighborhood.
The annual holiday event shuts down 10 blocks to allow visitors to explore vendor stalls, enjoy live music, food trucks, a Ferris wheel, a car show and connect with local organizations.
The business where the man's body was discovered was located within the blocks of the area that was closed off for the holiday event.
The man's death is believed to be natural, and police said there were no signs of foul play or trauma.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death and their findings will likely not be released for several months, a police spokesperson told KTLA.
The man's name has not been released at this time.
