FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- A fire broke out at BakerStreet Steakhouse on N. Clinton St. Monday night.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at 9:15 p.m., after the restaurant closed for the day. Firefighters found a fire in the kitchen hood ventilation system. It took less than 15 minutes to get the flames under control.
There were no customers inside at the time. 20 employees were all able to get out safely before fire crews arrived.
The building has minor fire, water, and smoke damage. Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code and the Allen County Board of Health responded to the scene.
WANE 15 contacted the restaurant Monday night and an employee said they had no comment at the time. According to a post on BakerStreet's Facebook page, a faulty wire in a hood fan motor started the fire. It added that there doesn't seem to be any significant damage to the restaurant and it hopes to open for dinner Tuesday night.
