2 rescued from trench at construction site on Cherry Creek Trail

DENVER (KDVR) — Two people were rescued from a trench at a construction site on the Cherry Creek Trail Tuesday morning.
At 7:42 a.m., South Metro posted on X that firefighters and deputies with the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office were responding to the rescue.
The construction site is on the Cherry Creek Trail near Parker Road and Broncos Parkway in Arapahoe County.
South Metro said two people were trapped in a trench that is 10 feet wide by five feet deep and 75 feet long.
One person had minor injuries, according to the department. Officials did not say what kind of injuries the second person had.

At 8:24 a.m., South Metro said three technical rescue crew members were in the trench and providing aid to the injured worker.
At 8:45 a.m., South Metro said everyone was out of the trench and one person was being taken to a local hospital. The department said the situation is now under control.
