(PUEBLO, Colo.) — To help those in need this Thanksgiving, there will be a turkey basket giveaway in Pueblo on Tuesday, Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Outpost Harley-Davidson, located at 5001 North Elizabeth Street.
Thanks to the partnership between several organizations, 200 turkey baskets will be handed out to those in need. Event organizers ask that those who attend be respectful while standing in line and only take one turkey basket per family.
According to an email sent to FOX21 News on Monday, Nov. 25, the Pueblo event is part of the '2024 Turkey Fest Giveaway' made possible through Excalibur Outreach, an Arvada-based nonprofit, whose mission is to help those in need across Colorado with a "focus on children and hunger issues," according to its website.
After Pueblo was selected as one of six locations across the state, the event planning began.
Several organizations worked together to make the giveaway possible including; the Chicano Pride Ride, the Isaiah Vialpando Scholarship Foundation, and the Rick (Spyder) Madril Run.
"Susan Durga who is the creator of the Rick (Spyder) Madril Run generously matched the 100 turkeys totaling 200 turkeys for this giveaway," according to the event email.
Owners of the Outpost Harley-Davidson in Pueblo also helped with the cause, not only by hosting the event but also by planning to offer free coffee and donuts for those who attend on Tuesday. Event organizers also thanked the McDivitt Law Firm for its $200 donation.
FOX21 News will be at the event on Tuesday and will update this article as we learn more.
