AM Headlines: Morning Showers Thanksgiving Soaker Mountain Snow Friday Arctic Air Arrives Windy Weekend Discussion: A weak cold front is bringing a few showers to the region this morning. Clouds will gradually clear out with highs in the low to mid 60s for the Piedmont and dropping temps across the Mountains. Cooler tonight with temps dropping back into the 30s and staying dry Wednesday with highs reaching the low 60s. The Thanksgiving Eve parade in uptown will be dry under partly to mostly cloudy skies and mild temperatures in the mid 50s. Widespread rain may impact the Turkey Trots and travel Thursday with the heaviest rain falling from morning through early afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms will be possible east of I-77, but no severe weather is expected. Highs will reach the mid to upper 60s. Temperatures will fall hard and fast with an arctic air mass sliding in Friday. For the mountains, this means a light accumulation of snow through Friday morning. Highs will only reach the low 50s during the day with overnight lows tumbling into the 20s areawide. This will be the first freeze for the Charlotte Metro area — a top 10 latest first freeze on record. Gusty northwest winds will add to the frigid conditions. The chill will linger through early next week with highs in the 40s this weekend and freezing overnight temperatures.
