Town of Fordoche police chief to retire in December

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- The Town of Fordoche announced the police chief's December retirement Monday night.
According to a social media post, Fordoche Police Chief Tait Slocum's last day will be on Dec. 1. An interim police chief must be appointed within 20 days. Officials said a special meeting will be held on or after Dec. 2 to make an official appointment.
The announcement said the person appointed to the interim position will serve until the May 2025 special election. Officials said the individual elected will complete the term's remaining two years.
"We thank Chief Tait Slocum for his service to Fordoche's citizens," officials said.
