Atmospheric River brings scattered showers throughout the day

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Prepare yourself for a rainy day of travel ahead with an additional .25” to .50” of precipitation expected in the next 24 hours.
Impressive rainfall totals have been recorded across Kern County, with more rain on the horizon.
Tuesday is expected to be the wettest day in our region, with some areas already exceeding rainfall expectations as of 8 a.m. Reports show Wofford Heights with 2.56” of rain, Lake Isabella with 1.75”, Delano with .79”, Meadows Field in Bakersfield with .72”, McFarland with 1.13”, and Lost Hills with .66”.
Strong winds will persist along our desert slopes, causing blowing dust throughout the day. A wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. today. Winter weather warnings are in place until 4 p.m. Wednesday for elevations above 6500 feet as we anticipate more snowfall.
A dry and warmer Thanksgiving is in store as temperatures are forecasted to gradually rise by the weekend. Widespread fog is likely to develop across the county, with visibility dropping to less than a quarter of a mile in some spots.
