AUSTIN (KXAN) — President-elect Donald Trump's incoming "border czar" will visit the Texas border Tuesday alongside Gov. Greg Abbott, the governor's office shared in a release.
Trump named Tom Homan as his border czar earlier this month — a position the president-elect said will focus on policymaking at the northern and southern borders alongside maritime and aviation security, per reporting from CNBC. Homan previously served as the director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement during Trump's first term.

During his visit to Texas Tuesday, Homan and Abbott will meet with Texas National Guard soldiers and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers stationed alongside the border in Eagle Pass and Edinburg. The two will serve meals to the soldiers and troopers ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Other attendees at Tuesday's event include National Border Patrol Council President Paul Perez, DPS Director Steve McCraw, Adjutant General of Texas Major General Thomas Suelzer and Texas Border Czar Mike Banks.
The Eagle Pass visit is set to begin at 12 p.m. Tuesday, while Homan and Abbott will join others in Edinburg around 3:15 p.m.
