DELAWARE, Ohio (WCMH) – A Delaware man found guilty of shooting a person to death in “broad daylight” will serve at least 27 years in prison. According to the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office Rayshawn Anderson, who was found guilty of murder with firearm specifications and one weapons charge, will serve life in prison, with the possibility of parole after 27 years. Ohio Supreme Court unable to decide transgender birth certificate case Anderson, now 18, was originally charged in juvenile court, but the prosecutor’s office sought to try him as an adult.  He was 17-years-old when he confronted the victim, Alonzo Byrd, outside his home in March and shot Byrd five times in the road “in broad daylight”. The sentence includes a mandatory sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years for the murder charge, 6-9 years in prison for discharging a firearm on or near a prohibited premises charge, and six years for two separate firearm specifications. Judge Gormley found that Anderson’s conduct warranted consecutive sentences.
