WATERLOO, Ind. (WANE) - It's an annual tradition that many wait hours to see. The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train passed through northeast Indiana in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The train is touring the United States and Canada until December 20th. In recent years, it was unknown if the train would be lit up as it passed through the area.

However, the uncertainty doesn't stop onlookers from waiting in the cold to see the train stop by. While the train can be a holiday tradition for some, it also is a means of raising awareness, funds, and donations for the hungry across the railway network. Since 1999, the train has raised more than $24.3 million for food banks in the US and Canada.
"I think that's really nice especially coming up on the holidays, making sure families have food is really important. If this a way that we can help that's terrific," said Evan Snaufer, who watched the train in Waterloo.
