FORECAST: Showers early Tuesday morning
Nov 25, 2024
The next storm system and cold front will arrive with scattered showers overnight into early Tuesday. That being the case, many of us will wake up to everything being wet but not have to deal with the showers.
It will quickly dry out and clear out behind the cold front on Tuesday as breezy winds kick up for a few hours. Sunshine breaking back out so quickly will give us similar high temperatures to today before it gets colder Tuesday night. Frosty conditions are likely by Wednesday morning as overnight lows fall back into the 30s. On what is typically the busiest travel day for Thanksgiving, the weather will cooperate whether you're flying, driving, or staying put. It will be dry with highs in the 50s on Wednesday, but cloud cover will increase again with a more potent storm system arriving Wednesday night.
This next disturbance will bring more rain, soaking the entire area heading into Thanksgiving morning. While not ideal to start the holiday, the good news is that rain is the only precipitation we'll be dealing with. Colder air will stay north of the DMV as this system rolls through, keeping any threat of wintry weather farther north into PA and NY. Temperatures will start falling on Friday, with blustery northwest winds kicking up. The bigger story for the rest of the holiday weekend will be a surge of bitterly cold air that will linger into next week. Highs will struggle to get out of the 30s on Saturday and Sunday, with overnight lows dropping into the teens and 20s. Wind chills will be even colder, and there will be bouts of windiness that we'll have to deal with. Get ready to bundle up; it will be a cold start to December and the holiday season.
