MERCED, Calif. (KGPE/KSEE) – Residents across Merced have reported hearing explosions over the weekend, but police say they will not be locating the cause. The Merced Police Department says they are aware of reports regarding possible explosions in the area but admit they will not locate the cause because they have not received enough direct reports. These reports are not new, in 2022 police say they "received several reports of a loud explosion in North Merced and the surrounding area." Although there was bomb squad training that day, they say the explosion was not related to that training.
