PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing a victim's identity and using it to open up several loans and credit cards in their name, the Porterville Police Department said Monday. Detectives say they assumed a report regarding fraud in January of this year. The victim had numerous credit cards and loans opened in their name, all with balances being maxed out. The report launched an investigation. Police say during the course of the investigation, they obtained evidence identifying 33-year-old Amanda Lynn Coll of Oakhurst as the one responsible for creating the fraudulent accounts and making unauthorized purchases. Porterville Police detectives say they, along with the Madera County Sheriff's Office, responded to Coll's home on Monday at 7:10 a.m. to serve an arrest warrant and residence to the suspect. Coll was contacted and taken into custody without further incident. Police add they served the search warrant at her home, where they collected a variety of electronic devices and other evidence pertaining to the investigation. Coll was later transported and booked at the Tulare County South Detention Facility, according to officials. Although an arrest has been made, police encourage anyone with information regarding this case to contact them at 559-782-7400. Tips can be given anonymously.
