Walk to support AIDS treatment in Fresno's Woodward Park
Nov 25, 2024
FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A walk to support AIDS and HIV treatment, pay tribute to those who were lost to AIDS and support anyone being impacted or at risk of HIV/AIDS will be hosted in Woodward Park this weekend.
WestCare California Inc. will be hosting this year's Fresno AIDS Walk. It will be held on World AIDS Day on Dec. 1 at 9 a.m. at Woodward Park's Park View Shelter.
Officials say all proceeds raised by walkers, donors, teams and sponsors will support the continued services of The Living Room, a project of WestCare California, Inc. and Fresno's longest-running HIV/AIDS social support center.
The event will begin at 9 am. with same-day registration, a community resource fair and festivities including pre-walk/run addresses from "influential figures" in the community, according to officials. They add the 2K walk and 5K run (untimed fun run) will begin at 11 a.m.
Following the walk, there will be an awards ceremony for top-grossing individuals and teams, live entertainment, a dove release in remembrance of those who were lost to AIDS, and more.
