DENVER A powerful winter storm will slam Colorado's mountains overnight into Tuesday and Wednesday. The snow picks up in intensity early Tuesday and continues all day long. Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories will go into effect across the Colorado high country for heavy snow Tuesday morning through Wednesday night. We could see around 12 to 24 inches above 9,000 feet. Travel through these areas could be quite tricky and even treacherous, so its a good idea to plan accordingly if youre heading into the mountains or traveling for Thanksgiving.For metro Denver and the lower elevations, we'll see a rain/snow mix starting Tuesday night with light snow into Wednesday. While were not expecting huge amounts in the metro, it could still lead to some slick conditions, making travel tough on the roads.The snow will move out early Thursday morning, and Thanksgiving Day looks mostly dry. It'll be pretty chilly with temperatures staying in the mid-30s. Itll be a good day to enjoy some indoor festivities, so bundle up if youre planning to be outside!As we head into the weekend, expect the cool, sunny, dry weather to stick around.
