JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Frying a turkey this year? Jefferson Parish officials are reminding residents of two locations to drop off used cooking oil. According to the Jefferson Parish Department of Environmental Affairs, cooking oil should not be poured down drains as it could cause damage to a home's plumbing and the parish's sewer system. Grab a turkey or ham at these Greater New Orleans Thanksgiving giveaways Parish officials said residents can drop off their used oil to be safely disposed of in Metairie at 400 David Drive or Marrero at 6440 Lapalco Blvd. Parish officials said the sites will be open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Residents who want to participate should bring their driver's license or a water bill with a Jefferson Parish address.
