TN drug task force seizes over 40lbs of marijuana, illegal weapons

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- During a series of drug busts the West Tennessee Drug Task Force seized over 40 pounds of marijuana and multiple illegal handguns.
In a series of Facebook posts, the task force highlighted contraband they managed to seize over the span of nine zip codes in their jurisdiction.
Drug task force targets most violent Memphis zip codes
In one seizure, they seized 37 pounds of marijuana. In another, they found an illegally possessed Ruger handgun.
Over 35 pounds of marijuana and a Ruger handgun was seized by the West Tennessee Drug Task Force.
Young people arrested for crimes
On Monday morning, agents from the 30th District Criminal Interdiction Unit seized approximately 5 pounds of marijuana and a loaded, illegally possessed AR-style pistol with a 30-round magazine.
Five pounds of marijuana and an illegal AR-style pistol was seized by the West Tennessee Drug Task Force.
These cases will be prosecuted by the Shelby County District Attorney's Office.
Governor Bill Lee set aside half a million dollars to reduce crime in Tennessee’s ten most dangerous zip codes. Nine of the zip codes are in Memphis, and one is in Nashville.
