KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Chiefs fans are accustomed to getting a thrill from the dynamic duo of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce on the football field, but a different hometown duo has everyone excited for something on the silver screen. The Chiefs and Hallmark teamed up to create, “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story.” In addition to featuring the hometown team, excitement is building because the movie was filmed locally. The love story centers around a woman trying to win a Chiefs Fan of the Year contest, but to do that, she has to deal with the team’s director of fan management. Throughout the movie, keep an eye out for familiar places and many local faces that play part in this tale. Christmas tree lightings, holiday displays across Kansas City area 2024 Lights, Garland, Action Back in July, the Independence Square got a touch of holiday magic. "It was strange to see the lights and the garland... it was 100 degrees," Cindy McClain, president of CRM Stores & McClain Restaurant Group, said. At the same time at Arrowhead Stadium, Chiefs fans traded in shirts and shorts for coats and gloves. Don't call it crazy. Call it.... acting. CPKC Holiday Train returning to Union Station for 2024 holiday season "It made me realize what real actors have to go through acting to be cold when it's not so cold," Jeff Dean told FOX4 during filming. The movie stars Hallmark fan favorites Tyler Hynes and Hunter King. Hallmark went all out for the real thing, using real places, and getting help from locals like McClain. "Here's this hometown corporation, our hometown Chiefs team, and then a hometown downtown square that just all came together and created this perfect storm, so to speak, of a Hallmark Chiefs love story," she said. McClain owns businesses on the square, like Wild About Harry on Maple Avenue, which appears in the movie. "I know this couch has made the trailer, so this baby is in there," she said. In addition to spots around the square, other filming locations featured places in nearby neighborhoods, including Angie Judy's home. "They came in and they literally moved every single thing out," Judy told FOX4. She described that her living and dining rooms were used to go back in time. "It goes through their whole life as Chiefs fans, and the holidays, and so Christmas morning will be happening here," Judy said. Kansas City Chiefs: Read more stories from FOX4 Filmmakers reached out to her after driving around to find the perfect location, a place she's proudly called home for 12 years. "Someone said to me, they were like, 'what's crazy is you realize your house will live on forever in a movie,' and I didn't think about it like that," she said. She called watching her home transform into a movie a once in a lifetime opportunity. "It was fun that they used a picture of great grandma on the mantel," she beamed. She also reveled in her appearance on the big screen. "My son and I, and my husband, we did get to be in it with Donna Kelce, so we got to be extras that day," she said. The acting bug spread from fans to Chiefs players, and even the head coach. "I only had about seven words. I can handle that. I can handle seven words," Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid said during a news conference when asked about his role. The movie centered around a fictional love story is actually capturing a real one between people and their city. "Watching the trailer last night... it's like those are the streets we walk every day with our kids to school, and those are the memories that we have," Judy said. "The town pride that evolved from that moment to me was probably the most special thing about all of it," McClain said. The movie kicks off on Saturday, November 30, first with a red carpet event at 4:30 p.m. at the Crown Center Square. KC Wolf, Chiefs cheerleaders and other Hallmark stars will be there. The movie itself premieres at 7 p.m. on the Hallmark Channel.
