FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- Monday evening neighbors, family and friends gathered at McKinnie Park not only to celebrate the upcoming holidays but to celebrate unity. Attendees enjoyed the holiday lights alongside live entertainment, speakers from the community and take home some fun, free giveaways. Rohli Booker, Fort Wayne City Councilwoman of the 6th District said she was really happy to see the city invest in the southeast. "McKinnie Commons is a beautiful placemaking location that the city invested in southeast to give us the opportunity to come together in a really great space to connect community," said Booker. Booker was excited that McKinnie Commons offers residents in the area the opportunity to come together without having to leave the southeast side. "For me this is the kickoff of the holiday season," Booker said. "This is a tradition that we hope will continue to grow and we'll see more and more people in the community come to."
